The Walk
From Benllech Beach car park, follow the road away from the beach. Shortly after the sharp right hand bend, cross carefully and walk gently uphill for around 30 yards.
Take the footpath on your left, following the waymarkers for the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path.
The path takes you above the coast, with views towards Red Wharf Bay, sometimes screened by trees and scrub. Continue as the path leaves the track and descends through the vegetation.
You'll cross a boardwalk, descend steps and pass rock faces before crossing a small footbridge. Continue along the narrowing path past the wooden building and chalets.
On reaching the road, turn left, pass the vehicle barrier and take the path on your right just before the next road.
Continue beside the caravan park and beech hedge. At the end of the path, turn right onto the road and then almost immediately left.
Ahead is Castell Mawr. Follow the Coast Path waymarker and continue between the hedgerows.
The route eventually descends back towards Red Wharf Bay. Follow the Coast Path signs towards the bay and continue until you reach The Ship Inn.
If you started in Benllech, this is a very good point to stop for a drink or something to eat before completing the circular walk.
Dogs and walkers are welcome, and you can relax and enjoy views straight across Red Wharf Bay out towards Llandudno before setting off again.
The return to Benllech
From The Ship Inn, subject to the Tide either retrace the route beside the caravan park, following the Coast Path signs or walk back across the Beach.
Follow the shoreline towards Benllech, observing any current seasonal dog restrictions and beach signage.
Continue along the beach until you reach Benllech promenade, where you leave the sand and return to the car park to complete the circuit.
